A Question without an answer

What do you think the main question I get when people find out I aged out of the foster care system and I don’t know my biological parents / family?

Yep, you guessed correctly. 

Have you looked for your biological parents / family?

Here is my answer.

NOPE!

It usually ends in a bit of confusion because some people just can’t understand why would you not want to know.

I’m fine with the situation it is what it is and I’m good with that.  Things happened for a reason.

People respond the way they do because it’s a cliff hanger / open loop.  It’s a question without an answer and people want answers. 
People want the loop closed.

Here is how you can use this in your talks.  You can start a story and get to a really good part and say one moment I’ll get back to that in a second. 

Share some additional information and then close the loop by finishing the story.  Try it out because it’s a really powerful language pattern to help keep people engaged and on edge.
