You Have No Clue What Fear Is Until You Have Gone Through The Foster Care System, Aged Out At 18 Only To Find Yourself Homelessness And Sleeping On the Streets!
Former Foster Youth Eric Anderson spent the majority of his childhood living in Foster Homes in Southern California. When he aged out at eighteen and stated living on his own he thought he was ready but realized he was missing a very important element – Resources that would help him live a productive life.
Each year thousands of foster kids across the Nation age out at eighteen and live a similar experience. Some are able to work through their challenges, while others go through small challenges that turn into major life problems that seem almost impossible to live through.
“There is a HUGE push across the Nation to extend vital services for kids in foster care until the age of twenty one. This will be major help but not nearly enough. It’s important that Foster Youth have Foster Parents that are teaching them what they need to know BEFORE they age out to live on their own. ” says Eric Anderson.
If you’re interested in finding out more information about Foster Parenting visit The National Foster Parent Association at www.nfpainc.org for more information.
Today Eric Anderson is happily married and the father of twins. He speaks to Foster Parents, Social Workers and Youth in Foster Care with his presentation The Magic of Attitude. He is also the author of the book Success after Foster Care.
